OUR HISTORY

People’s Action and People’s Action Institute were founded in 2016 to ignite a movement of millions that captures the rising demand for change in our society. Formed from the merger of powerful national organizations, we also come from a storied history of innovation and success.

We’ve won health insurance for millions and stopped Wall Street banks from selling predatory payday loans to their customers. We pushed historic legislation like the Community Reinvestment Act to victory and helped win creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. We’ve reversed health care laws that discriminate based on a person’s citizenship.

We’re proud of our past. But we have our sights set on the future and the world we’re aiming to build. Here’s what we’re fighting for.
